DRY PORT MANAGEMENT,
DOCKING AND MARINE SERVICES
The company is in the process of the designing and construction of a Graving Dock at Walvis Bay in Namibia on private property through a local fund. The preliminary design of the Graving Dock is being done under Wildfire Docking Marine Services (Pty) Ltd, a company in which South Haven Commodities (Pty) Ltd is a shareholder. The Engineering designs were done by KEA Project Group South Africa, an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Management (EPCM) firm for the Marine, Oil and Gas sectors. The estimates cost for the for the Graving Dock is US$400 000 000 is with dimensions of 400 x 65 x21. The operational costs of the Graving Dock are 54% of the revenue whilst next profit after tax is expected to be 35% at an IRR of 28%.
TECHNICAL PROPOSITION
The repair dock of 400 x 65 x 21 M will accommodate ships in excess of 1,25,000 DWT. The dock will have high capacity discharge pumps to drain it in less than three hours. It will be served by at least three LLTT cranes, one of 40 T and two 10T capacity.
QUAYS
There will be three quays of at least 400 M length with at least 15 T cranage, not less than 208 M length with 10 T & 5 T cranage and at least 460 M length with 20 T cranage. The quays will have adequate service lines of oxygen, acetylene, compressed air and power connections.
ENGINE AND MACHINE SHOP
This shop will be equipped with modern machine tools like Plano miller (up to 30 T) Bar Boring equipment (up to 300 mm dia), Inside Grinding machine (up to 300 mm dia), Heavy Duty Lathes (up to 12M length), Horizontal Drilling machine ( up to 100 mm boring & 600 mm drilling), Shrinkage equipment (up to 6 M x 900 mm O.D), Cylindrical Grinding machine (630 mm dia x 2 T), Horizontal Boring machine (up to 560 mm dia) and Dynamic Balancing machine (up to 3 T).
OTHER FACILITIES
Hauling Carriage for safe docking and un-docking of ships.
High Pressure Water Jet for hull cleaning.
Blasting and Painting of conventional, epoxy and SPC systems.
Hauling Carriage for safe docking and un-docking of ships.
Facility for Boiler re-tubing.
Facility for Tank Coating.
Electric shop for overhauling of motors and testing.
Pipeline supply of compressed air, oxygen and acetylene.
Wildfire Docking & Marines Services (Pty) Ltd through this Graving Dock will be responsible for the creation of 1,360 jobs directly and indirectly in Walvis Bay. The Graving Dock will also create competition on the market for the marine repair industry and the diļ¬erentiating factor is that varoius stakeholders will be able to make use of the dock and repair services.
